When launching a new website for your business it can be surprising how much written content you need to produce - and getting it right is crucial. You don’t need to be told that social media - Instagram, Facebook etc. - is essential for growing your business. What you do need is someone who can write great posts, create compelling video, fun stories and has a proven track record in growing social media followings across a wide range of businesses.

Long form articles, such as blogs and advertorials, can drive huge engagement. Talking to your customers on key topics, offering how-to suggestions and simply sharing information builds brand loyalty and gives your customers something tangible to on-share.

My work

Articles

I have been writing articles for high-profile media outlets in Australia and New Zealand for many years now. It would be impossible to link to them all. Instead, here are some of my favourites.

  • Writing for the NZ Herald as a freelancer for the first time I undertook to investigate why so many Kiwi kids are falling behind in literacy. The article generated a huge response, including a request from Newstalk ZB for me to discuss the story live on air. Listen to me on the radio, or read the story.

  • I love writing travel content and this piece for New Zealand Herald Travel was extra fun as I was able to include my little dog, Rocket, in the story. Take a look.

  • This piece was a collaboration with New World. They were judging their annual wine awards and invited me along for a backstage look at the process. This article is a great balance between video, editorial and publicity. Take a look.

  • This article was an opinion piece I wrote about my son. It came straight from the heart. The most incredible thing about this article was the number of emails I had from parents of children with ADHD and also adults with ADHD, thanking me. My article made them feel heard. I realised that opening yourself up personally in your content can be positive. Take a look.

 

Websites

I have content-managed site launches from the ground up for nine.com.au and Fuzzy Events, a music touring company based in Sydney. I have also worked on content migrations, including a mobile portal for Vodafone and, more recently, NZ Herald’s Eat Well website.

Eatwell.co.nz

Being a foodie and a writer having the chance to work on content for the New Zealand’s premiere food website and insert magazine was a labour of love. I enjoyed exploring what Kiwis are truly engaged with. I found that healthy lunches, speedy dinners and seasonal produce were important to the Eatwell audience and tailored content accordingly.

 

Social Media

From utilising Social Media to drive traffic to editorial content, to producing engaging social posts to drive sales for clients, I have extensive experience in what it takes to really make social content work hard.

Moral Fibre Instagram page

Since May 2022 I have been working with Auckland-based vingtage clothing store, Moral Fibre, driving their social media following, engagement and, ultimately, their sales. During the first month working on Moral Fibre's social accounts, I increased reach across Facebook by a staggering 1,100% and Instagram by 200%, compared to the previous 28 days. I also increased visitors to their online store by 377% in that same period.

 

Videos

I am equally comfortable both behind and in front of the camera. This example shows me interviewing two of the members of music group, Synthony. I have also scripted and executive-produced promotional videos for clients.

I have an impressive portfolio of both editorial and client-driven content. I have a communications degree from Western Sydney University.

I can turn around written copy, to a high standard, in a very short time. I generate great ideas and see them through the execution with ease and professionalism.

I have many years of experience in the digital space and am exceptionally savvy from a technical point of few. I have background knowledge in everything from EDM creation to CMS, CSS, GA and SEO . 

My passion is food-related lifestyle content but I have the skills to write on just about anything with flair and accuracy.

I am creative, enthusiastic, never out of new ideas and great fun to work with.
